Semanas antes del lanzamiento de «Tracks II: The Lost Albums», Bruce Springsteen compartió otra canción, «Adelita». «The Lost Albums» es un recopilatorio de siete LP que recopila discos inéditos de entre 1983 y 2018.
«Adelita» pertenece a «Inyo», un álbum de 10 canciones grabado en los 90 e inspirado en sus viajes en moto por el sudoeste estadounidense. La canción está inspirada en las mujeres que lucharon por la independencia de México.
«‘Inyo’ fue un disco que compuse en California durante largos viajes por el acueducto de California, atravesando el condado de Inyo camino a Yosemite o el Valle de la Muerte», explicó Springsteen en un comunicado de prensa que anunciaba el último avance de «The Lost Albums».
«Disfrutaba muchísimo ese tipo de composición. [En la gira de ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’], volvía a casa, a la habitación del hotel, por la noche y seguía escribiendo con ese estilo porque pensaba que iba a seguir ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ con un disco similar, pero no lo hice. De ahí surgió ‘Inyo’. Es uno de mis favoritos», agregó.
Si bien «Inyo» es principalmente un álbum solista, al igual que «The Ghost of Tom Joad», incluye varias colaboraciones con mariachis, incluyendo «Adelita». Un comunicado de prensa señala que «varias canciones del disco exploran la diáspora mexicana, cómo el cruce de la frontera entre México y los Estados Unidos ha afectado a generaciones y las pérdidas culturales sufridas como resultado».
«Tracks II: The Lost Albums» sale a la venta el 27 de junio e incluye siete LPs que abarcan 35 años: «LA Garage Sessions ’83», «Streets of Philadelphia Sessions», «Faithless», «Somewhere North of Nashville», «Inyo», «Twilight Hours» y «Perfect World».
«Adelita» llega tras el lanzamiento de «Rain in the River», «Blind Spot», «Faithless» y «Repo Man».
