El cantante, guitarrista y compositor canadiense Bryan Adams presentó el single «Kick Ass», otro adelanto de su próximo disco de estudio «So Happy It Hurts», que será publicado el 11 de marzo.
«Kick Ass» comienza con un sermón introductorio de John Cleese, integrante del colectivo de comediantes británicos Monty Python, que resume la canción: «no hay suficiente rock and roll en el mundo… ¡Fin!», a lo que Adams replica: «Más guitarras, más batería, unan sus manos… vamos a rockear».
El álbum «So Happy It Hurts», el 15º disco de estudio de Adams, estará conformado por 12 canciones coescritas por el artista canadiense y será lanzado en CD, vinilo y digital. En octubre se conoció el single que da título al álbum.
Adams dijo que pasó gran parte de su tiempo en cuarentena escribiendo las canciones de «So Happy It Hurts».
«La pandemia y la cuarentena realmente dejaron en claro que se puede quitar la espontaneidad», dijo en un comunicado de prensa. «De repente, todas las giras se detuvieron, nadie podía subirse al auto e irse. El título de la canción ‘So Happy It Hurts’ (Tan feliz que duele) trata sobre la libertad, la autonomía, la espontaneidad y la emoción de la ruta. El álbum del mismo nombre toca muchas de las cosas efímeras de la vida que son realmente el secreto de la felicidad y, lo más importante, la conexión humana».
Hace dos semanas, Adams había compartido «On The Road», otra de las canciones que conformarán «So Happy It Hurts». La canción sirve para promocionar el Calendario Pirelli 2022, que cuenta con fotografías de Adams y celebra a las estrellas de la música internacional desde 1960 a la actualidad.
Además, marca el regreso del Calendario después de la interrupción por la pandemia de COVID-19, y coincide con la celebración del 150º aniversario de Pirelli, cuyo logo fue presentado al mismo tiempo que el calendario.
En la 48ª edición aparecen diez artistas de fama mundial de diferentes edades, géneros musicales y orígenes: Cher, Grimes, Jennifer Hudson, Normani, Rita Ora, Bohan Phoenix, Iggy Pop, Saweetie, St. Vincent y Kali Uchis. Las fotos fueron tomadas por Adams el verano boreal pasado, en solo tres días, en dos locaciones en Los Ángeles, el Palace Theatre y el hotel Chateau Marmont de Hollywood, y en el hotel Scalinatella en Capri.
La canción, escrita específicamente para el Calendario Pirelli 2022, fue compuesta por Robert John «Mutt» Lange con el propio Adams, quien además dirigió el videoclip.
