Phil Collins anuncia el lanzamiento del box set de 4 discos «Plays Well With Others»

Decir que la carrera de Phil Collins ha sido prolífica es insuficiente. Durante muchos años fue un creador de éxitos que nunca se detenía, trabajando duro en el estudio para crear un hit tras otro, muchos de los cuales han llegado a definir los años 80.

Pero su carrera es más que «In the Air Tonight», «Sussidio» o «You Can’t Hurry Love» -esta última sorpresivamente su canción más popular en Spotify- y es por eso que repasará su historia completa en un nuevo compilado.

El 28 de septiembre, Collins lanzará un box set denominado «Plays Well With Others». Conformada por cuatro discos y más de 59 canciones, esta colección va desde sus inicios en el grupo psicodélico Flaming Youth, pasando por sus años formativos en los años 70 junto a Brand X, Brian Eno, Robert Fripp y John Cale, hasta sus ultra exitosos 80 y hasta la big band que formó con Quincy Jones y Tony Bennett.

El título proviene de una camiseta regalada al cantante, compositor y baterista por Chester Thompson, el ex baterista de gira de Genesis, un guiño a la voluntad de Collins de tocar con una amplia variedad de otros artistas.

«Algunos dirían que he vivido una vida encantadora», afirma Collins en un comunicado de prensa. «Hice lo que quería la mayor parte del tiempo, y me pagaron bien por hacer algo que hubiera hecho gratis. Tocar la batería. Durante ese tiempo toqué con la mayoría de mis héroes, y la mayoría se han convertido en amigos cercanos. En estos 4 CDs encontrarán una mera noción de esos momentos. Agradezco a los artistas por permitirme armar este CD, ¡no es una tarea fácil!».

El box set llegará solo unos días antes del tramo norteamericano de la gira «Not Dead Yet Tour», que comenzará en Ft. Lauderdale el 5 de octubre y se cerrará el 28 de octubre en Los Ángeles.
