Han pasado 35 años desde que Whitesnake consiguió su primer disco de platino con el álbum «Slide It In», y este aniversario será celebrado por la banda con un box set especial de siete discos.
«Slide It In: The Ultimate Special Edition» será lanzado el 8 de marzo. La colección presentará versiones remasterizadas tanto de la mezcla estadounidense como de la británica, además de nuevas remezclas realizadas especialmente por el 35º aniversario.
El extenso material se completará con grabaciones en vivo y de estudio inéditas, videoclips, grabaciones de conciertos y una nueva entrevista con el fundador y cantante de Whitesnake, David Coverdale.
«‘Slide It In’ siempre tuvo la intención de ser una versión moderna y más eléctrica del rock clásico basado en el blues por el que Whitesnake era famoso», dijo Coverdale sobre los nuevos remixes. «Escuchar todas las interpretaciones tan frescas y tan claras después de 35 años fue increíble».
La banda grabó originalmente «Slide It In», su sexto álbum de estudio, en 1983. Su alineación en ese momento incluía a Coverdale, los guitarristas Micky Moody y Mel Galley, el bajista Colin Hodgkinson y el tecladista Jon Lord.
Poco después, la formación de la banda cambió. Lord dejó el grupo para reunirse con Deep Purple. John Sykes y Neil Murray fueron contratados para reemplazar a Moody y Hodgkinson, respectivamente. Antes del lanzamiento de «Slide It In» en los Estados Unidos, el álbum fue remezclado con partes recién grabadas por Sykes, Murray y el tecladista Bill Cuomo. Tanto las versiones británica como la estadounidense del álbum se incluirán en el box set.
«Slide It In» vendió más de 6 millones de copias. Canciones como «Love Ain’t No Stranger», «Slow An’ Easy» y la canción del título ayudaron a hacer del álbum un éxito mundial. Sigue siendo el segundo álbum más vendido en el catálogo de la banda, detrás del exitoso disco homónimo de 1987.
